Rebecca Black - Fame is a Gun (cover)

I unironically love the song “Friday” by Rebecca Black. I too get excited when it’s Friday, and I never want the weekend to end. It’s not good, but it’s catchy, and it didn’t deserve all the hate.

She popped back on my radar with her hyperpop remix of “Friday”. I watched a bit of her Boiler Room set—not my thing, but the crowd and the commenters seem into it. “Sugar Water Cyanide” is catchier every time I listen to it.

A recent episode of the Song vs Song podcast brought up her cover of Addison Rae’s “Fame is a Gun”, and … wow. She builds a vocal loop, then sings the rest of it while mixing at the same time. I can’t believe only three people generated that soundscape. Respect.
