Activity Goals for 2026

Late last year I made a post about morning walks. The goal was to start incorporating more physical activity in my day-to-day life to gradually improve my health.
It hasn’t gone well. I’ve been unable to push myself to jump out of bed and get active in the morning. Ideally I would’ve been more active between Christmas and New Year’s, which I had off; instead I was sick, and spent the break hibernating. Since then it’s been back to work, and even on days I’ve gone to the office, I’ve elected to take transit instead of walking.
Boo, I say. Boo!
Instead of beating myself up, I’m going to try keeping track of my activity in general, with the goal of incremental improvement. And—because why not?—I’ll throw some mental activity in there, too.
- 6 000 steps is essentially whether I went outside or not.
- Hopping on my bike can be an excellent source of exercise. The hard part is getting on it in the first place.
- Exercise is fuzzy, and I may just delete it entirely. I’m going to count 10 000 steps, or enough activity to get my heart going.
- Did I read a book?
- I barely watch TV shows or movies these days.
I’ll try to update this as the year goes.
