This was unexpected. Some friends had tickets to a concert at the Rickshaw tonight, but one of them was feeling sick. My friend asked if I wanted to go, and who am I to say no to a free show?

Local act Terror Bird opened. I’ve never heard of her before. It was just her on stage, with a keyboard and microphone (and probably a laptop), but she broadcast positive vibes and won over the crowd. Afterwards, I saw her nearby in the audience and told her she played a great set.

Then headliner Austra performed. I’d likewise never heard of her. Her music sounded a bit like Devours’ (previously), if less abrasive; but her vocals actually made me think of Florence Welch whenever she turned on the vibrato, and it was a bit poppier. Based on where this song showed up in the set list, I think this must’ve been her big hit.

I’ll update this with some pictures after I go through ‘em.
