Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley

As you can guess from the name, it’s Pride and Prejudice fanfic. Lizzy and Darcy, happily married, have invited the Bennets and their in-laws up to Pemberley for Christmas, where Mary Bennet—the strange sister, more into books and playing the piano terribly—meets Arthur de Bourgh, an unusual gentleman more at home studying snails than in society. Can they work out their feelings before Lydia’s shenanigans ruin everything?

Yes, of course. But it’s a fun show. Mary Bennet is a great lead. She’s a thorny character, and has a hard time relating to others. Watching her work out her feelings and reacting to the various impediments was entertaining.

It was my second time at Metro Theatre, after seeing a panto there last year¹. It’s a community theatre, and has a very different vibe than other venues around town. I’ll have to go back for some more shows.
