No Tyrants

I went to the local No Tyrants1 protest last weekend. There was a higher turnout this time, despite the rain and the bone-chilling damp. It wasn’t much compared to the protests in the States, but it was heartening to see so many people show up. About half the crowd were Americans or dual citizens—they had good reason to be there.

The final speech was from the new leader of the BC Greens, Emily Lowan. She told the crowd that it was Trump’s election back in 2016 that inspired her to get into politics, that people like her needed to stand up and fight for their beliefs. She’s absolutely right, and it’s inspiring to see younger folk starting to lead.

My Mastodon thread, for posterity.

The crowd listening to a speaker. I think he was from a Democrats Abroad group. Like I said, there were a lot of Americans.

Froggy selfie!
