Vancouver City Council By-election

I wrote the below for our spam chat at work.

Hey Vancouver peeps! We have a by-election next Saturday (early voting is available) to replace departing city councilors Peter Fry (Green) and Christine Boyle (OneCity). I tried researching the candidates last night, but wow, it was too much.

Why you should vote

• Municipal politics have direct impact on our lives. Do you want to increase library hours or open a new branch? Replace traffic lights with roundabouts? Allow cornerstores everywhere? These are the people who make those decisions.
• Are you sus of Ken Sim and think he needs people to keep him in check?
• I’m not going to name names, but there are some people running who I do not want anywhere near a position of power.

Why you shouldn’t vote

Yeah, I’ll take the other side, too.

• Regardless of anything, ABC Vancouver will maintain control of city council.
• Who wants to stand in line on a Saturday?
